CLAYTON - George A. Dunning Sr., died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover. He was 82. Mr. Dunning was born Dec. 14, 1926 in Clayton, son of the late Arley F. and Laura Mae Pearson Dunning. Mr. Dunning was a lifetime resident of Pearsons Grove, where he was a dairy farmer. After the sale of his cows in 1985 he continued doing custom farm work and grain farming until he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Kenton Ruritan Club and the Delaware Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carroll F. Dunning, Harvey L. Dunning and Robert W. Dunning. Mr. Dunning is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine O'Neal Dunning; three sons and daughters-in-law, George A. Dunning and Lynda of Dover, Gerald Dunning and Candace of Smyrna, and Douglas E. Dunning and fiancé Jackie Lee of Wilmington; two sisters, Bertha Mae Scotton of Dover, and Katherine Shumar of Lewes; three grandchildren, Apryl Peppard and husband Bill of Dover, Josh Dunning and fiancé Allison Friedman of Arlington, Va., and Brandon Dunning of Smyrna; and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Abigail Peppard. Funeral service will be Noon Saturday, July 11 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon. Burial in Galena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kenton Ruritan Club, P.O.
