Gay N. Smack, 81
MIDDLETOWN - Gay N. Smack, of Middletown, formerly of Milford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 81.
Mrs. Smack was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Baxter, Tenn., daughter of the late John and Bessie (Campbell) McBroom.
She was a homemaker and was also employed part time from 1970 to 1982 in the cafeteria at Milford High School.
Mrs. Smack loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harris J. Smack, in 2003; three brothers, Gilbert McBroom, Morris McBroom and Calvin McBroom; and three sisters, Callie Herring, Thelma Patterson and Doris Dumbeck.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie J. Dernberger of Milford and Linda A. and Jim Caccamo of Middletown; three brothers, John McBroom Jr. and Ernest McBroom, both of Milford, and Larry McBroom of Laurel; three grandchildren, Heather Gaye Dernberger, Zachery James Caccamo and Blake Harrison Caccamo; and a special friend, Betty Starkey.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior.
Burial will be in the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street.
