Gary Peter Leach

SEAFORD - Gary Peter Leach, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Gary was born in Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 16, 1944, the son of the late Alfred G. Leach, Jr. and Anne M. (Hantz) Leach.
Gary graduated from Hauppauge High School in New York in 1961 and earned his Bachelor of Social Science from University of Dayton and Master's in Criminal Justice from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.
He served as a police officer for 37 years before retiring in 2000. He also served as an Army veteran in the Vietnam War. After retirement, he spent a number of years coaching soccer and teaching at Seaford Christian Academy and was involved in the development and operation of Davelli's Bagel Café in Seaford.
Gary was an active member of Gideon's International and Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford. He also enjoyed helping others, playing the trumpet, gardening, farming, working on cars, making sly jokes, and communing with special friends at Davelli's Bagel Cafe.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Eunice Leach; his sons, Gary P. Leach, Jr. (Carly), David T. Leach (Kelli); his grandchildren, Kayla, Avery, Felicity, and Levi; and his siblings, Alfred G. Leach III, Donald Leach (Nancy), and Judith Orr (Dan). He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Leach.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at 4pm, at Atlanta Road Alliance Church with Reverend Donnie Reynolds officiating. Friends may call on the family from 2:30 to 4 p.m. prior to the start of the service. A private interment will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford.
