Garnet Spencer, 91
Garnet Spencer passed away at home on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022. She was the daughter of the late, Ida and Abraham Yoder.
Garnet worked as a waitress for many years. She worked at the Hollywood Diner for 14 years where she was known as "Sam" by her customers. She retired from Playtex in 1995 after 23 years of employment. In the past, Garnet has enjoyed camping, square dancing, word search puzzles, her pets, flowers, ceramics and most of all, the time she spent with her family.
Garnet was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Spencer; her youngest son, Ron Motter; and all seven of her siblings.
Garnet is survived by her sons, Steve Motter (Rena) and Dale Motter (Billie); daughter, Sharon Parks; step children, James Spencer, Tina Starner and Virgil Spencer Jr. Garnet was quick to express her love and pride for her grandchildren, Tammy McNamire (Chris), Jeff Motter (Brittany); great grandchildren, Haley, Trey, Aiyanna & Logan; two great great grandchildren, Julian and Kire; several step grandchildren; and extended family.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington at 2 p.m. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 1 p.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date. Delaware guidelines are in effect for social distancing and masks.
