FREDERICA, Del. - Fredricka S. Lurton passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Bay Health Hospital in Dover, Delaware. She was born February 18, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio. Daughter of Minter and Fredricka Boggs, she brought the gift of music to hundreds of elementary, middle school and high school students early in life. Her life was filled with several diverse and unique professions, from developing and selling a custom line of handmade dolls to managing a ribbon and craft shop. An avid crafter her entire life, her specialties ranged from macrame and custom holiday wreaths to personalized custom wood frames.
Later in life she was a travel agent, specializing in cruises where she developed a lifelong relationship with many of her traveling clients. Her travel experience served her well as she hosted various Naval Academy officers on several trips to China, Hawaii and Japan while she worked for the U.S. Naval Academy. Several youth groups benefited from her knowledge as she guided them through Paris and Austria.
She is survived by her loving husband, Earl Lurton; and three sons, Scott Lurton of Fairfax, Va., Mark Lurton of Easton, Md., and Phillip Lurton of Middletown, Del.; along with two grandsons, Jimmy Lurton and Matthew Lurton.
Before retiring she and her husband Earl made several trips to different parts of the world, to include Rome and Pompeii in Italy, Greece, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Cairo, Egypt.
There will be a viewing at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge, Md. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make a donation to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
