Fred Walter Benson Sr., 81
DOVER - Fred Walter Benson Sr. of Dover died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 in Green Valley Pavilion Nursing Center, Smyrna. He was 81.
He was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Dover.
Mr. Benson was a retired heavy equipment operator for the state of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola V. Benson; four brothers, Phil, Charles, Clarence and Frank; and four sisters, Blanche, Pearl, Cora and Laura.
He is survived by three daughters, Diane E. Evans, Laura M. Waltz and Shirley Benson (whom he raised); two sons, Fred Walter Benson Jr. and Raymond Benson; a brother, John Benson; three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Carrie Moses and Mary Benson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special friend, Amelia Fischer.
Services will be noon Wednesday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hill Memorial Gardens, Dover.
