Francis Michael (Frank, Fuzzy) Martin Jr., 70

MILFORD - Francis Michael (Frank, Fuzzy) Martin Jr., formerly of Waldorf, Md., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 70. Mr. Martin was born in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Francis M. Sr. and Alice Elizabeth (Soper) Martin. He was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School, then worked his way through apprenticeship school with the Steam fitters Local. After serving his apprenticeship, Mr. Martin worked as a steam fitter with Local 602 in Washington, D.C. for 40 years. After retiring, he and his wife Betty moved to Milford in 1998. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Milford, the Milford Moose Lodge 2401, the Milford Elks Lodge 2316, both the Milford and Harrington Senior Centers, as well as holding past membership with the Waldorf, Md. Moose Lodge, and Elks Lodge. Frank also enjoyed traveling to Harrington, Dover, Delaware Park and Atlantic City, N.J. to play the slots. He also enjoyed bowling, playing shuffle board and throwing horseshoes. He was a Washington Redskins fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Bassford, in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Betty L. Martin; a son, Mike Martin and his wife Kim; a granddaughter, Amanda Martin, all of Newburg, Md.; a brother, Edward Martin and his wife Linda, of La Plata, Md.; and a sister, Anna McCauley, of Montross, Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Good Shephard United Methodist Church, 305 Smallwood Dr., Waldorf, Md. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
