DOVER - Francis J. "Frank" Traynor of Dover departed this life on June 22, 2016. He was 89. Frank was born on January 10, 1927 in Darby, Pa., the third and youngest son of Patrick and Margaret (McCusker) Traynor, both of whom immigrated to this country from Ireland. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Hugh. After growing up in Darby in the house where he was born and graduating from West Catholic High School (Philadelphia) in 1944, Frank enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly during the final year of the Second World War. Upon returning from his service in 1946, he attended St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia. Not long thereafter he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy. Frank and Dorothy, who died in 2010, were married for 60 years. Frank and Dorothy moved to Dover in 1950 after Frank landed a job with Playtex. Frank remained with Playtex or one of its successor companies until his retirement in 1992. At the time of his retirement, he was the Director of Distribution of Rapid American Corporation and the president of Rapid Distribution Services, Inc. Frank was committed to serving the Dover community. Among his many leadership positions, he was the past president of the Holy Cross Parish Council, the Maple Dale Country Club board of directors, and the Lower Delaware Gridiron Club. He also served for several years on the City of Dover Planning Commission and was active in the Dover Rotary Club. But above all, Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by a daughter, Janice (Gary Lowe), and is survived by his daughters, Diane Senerth of Wilmington and Carol DeMarco of West Chester Pa.; and a son, Gary Traynor (Kathy Andrus) of Rehoboth Beach. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Laura, Emily, Jonathan, Erin, Julia, Elizabeth, Michael, Jennie and Sarah; and his great grandson, Traynor. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State. St, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to consider a donation to Holy Cross Church 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
