Francis Edward 'Scotty' Scott Jr., 42 DOVER - Francis Edward "Scotty" Scott Jr., of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 3, 2010. He was 42. Scotty was born on Sept. 22, 1967, and was the son of Francis E. Scott, Sr. of Denton, Md. and Martha Mowbray Harmon of Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a 1985 graduate of North Caroline High School near Denton. Scotty joined the U.S. Army in 1986 where he served as a tank driver in the lst Calvary and was veteran of Operation Desert Storm in Iraq. He was presently a Correctional Officer at the Delaware Correctional Center in Smyrna. Scotty attended the Faith Baptist Church in Smyrna. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt race fan and enjoyed working on his Blazer 4 x 4 and riding motorcycles. He was known as a person with a wonderful sense of humor and was a prankster whose contagious laugh will always be remembered. He always enjoyed helping friends and co-workers to repair their vehicles. He, along with his wife Deby, raised Australian Shepherds. Scotty was a fabulous stepfather and loving husband, son, and brother and will be greatly missed. His faithful Aussie, Buddy, will miss him, also. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Deby, and her two children, Christopher Harrington of Smyrna, and Courtney Gregory of Dover; and one brother, Kenneth Scott and his children, Kenneth Allen Goff of Mexico and Nicole Scott and Kodi Scott of Felton; his maternal grandmother, Marian Lee Mowbray of Pittsburgh; his paternal grandmother, Margaret I. Scott of Denton; his father's wife, Dianne of Denton; and his mother's husband, Karl of Pittsburgh, Pa. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Faith Baptist Church in Smyrna where friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending memorial donations to the Faith Baptist Church, 1575 Bryn Zion Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
