Frances Ida Baker

Frances Ida 'Franny' Baker, 69 TOWNSEND - Frances Ida "Franny" Baker, of Townsend, peacefully passed away at home on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, after a long, courageous battle with colon cancer. She was 69. Franny was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Townsend. She graduated from Middletown High School and later in life took classes at Delaware Technical and Community College in Dover. Franny was the daughter of the late Alberta and Augustine "Shine" Savin. She most recently worked for several years at Boscovs at the Dover Mall, Dover. Franny enjoyed taking trips with her husband George to hike the trails and ride their bikes. She especially enjoyed seeing the leaves change color in the Blue ridge Mountains. Franny took pleasure in shopping for her family, most of all Franny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and daughter. She was cherished by her family. She was preceded in death by her nephews, Lewis Edmonds Jr., and Mark Manning; son-in-law, Roger Eggers; and stepfather, Johny Fears. Franny is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, George; three children, Betty and her husband Daniel Lee of Middletown, Denise Baker of Goldsboro, Md., George Baker Jr. and his wife Laura of Townsend; three sisters and their spouses, Anne Knowles of Wilmington, Phyllis Schwalbauch of Bear, and Ethel Edmonds of Carrollton, Va.; six grandchildren, Ben, Aaron Jesse, Joseph, Sara, Katie, and Heather; two special "grandchildren," Chris and Nicole Pinder; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Corrin Jr. for their excellent care they provided. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 North Broad St., Middletown. Visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Friday.
