Forrest W. Shoupe, 84
DOVER - Forrest W. Shoupe of Dover died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, in Christiana Care Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Shoupe was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Silver Creek, N.C., son of the late James W. and Lillie G. Anderson Shoupe.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1963 after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater of Operations, serving in the Marianas, Guam and Hawaii. He was also a member of the crew that serviced the Enola Gay. After the war"s end, he and his wife were stationed in California and Massachusetts before arriving in Dover.
Mr. Shoupe began working as an auto mechanic in Smyrna. He owned and operated Shoupe"s Sunoco and then Shoupe"s Auto Clinic from 1970 to 1980.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Forrest Shoupe in February 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Harmon Shoupe; two daughters, Lynda Fizer of Felton and Patti Seefeldt Westfall of Dover; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
