GREENWOOD - Floyd J. Allen, 76, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He is the son of the late Floyd Allen and Edith Reynolds Allen. He was preceded in death, by his wife of 53 years, Hilda Allen; a brother, Howard "Buddy" Allen; and two sisters, Jeanette Wilcutts and Ruth Anna Armstrong. Mr. Allen loved gardening and taking care of his lawn. Passersby's would always stop by to admire the beautiful rose garden he and his wife would grow. He loved the Redskins, John Deere and NASCAR and was a dedicated Ford man. He was known as a jokester. He was proud of driving a truck and drove for General Foods for 22 years than Oriole Chemical, Delaware City, prior to retiring. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Allen, who took care of him; two sisters, Margaret Hurd of Viola, and Charoltte Millman of Greenwood; and two grandchildren, Kyle King of Elkton, Md., and Stacy Irvine and her husband Aaron of Greenwod. Also, his black Lab, Major. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012, in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a viewing. Interment will be Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.
