DENTON, Md. - Florence May Cartwright, of Denton, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 91.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Cartwright was the daughter of the late Albert Herlinger and Florence Ottilie Eichler Herlinger.
She was a sales clerk at Strawbridge's many years ago and was a sales clerk at Breadenbeck's Bakery in Mayfair, Pa., from where she retired before moving to Denton 35 years ago.
She lived most of her life in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Cartwright loved bingo, sewing, singing and playing the piano.
Her husband, Leroy David Cartwright, died Sept. 14, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha Bauerle; and one brother, Albert Herlinger.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by two daughters, Dolly M. North and husband Fred of Denton, Marge Battistelli and her husband, Anthony of Mays Landing, N.J.; one son, Leroy "Bud" David Cartwright and his wife Joyce of Philadelphia; two sisters, Catherine Bauerle of Philadelphia, and Emma Donahue of Vineland, N.J.; ten grandchildren. Jeffrey, Bryan, Jean, Jennifer, Jeanette, David, Michael, Adrienne, Albert, and Andrea; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Concord United Methodist Church on Md. 313, where friends may call one hour before the service.
Interment will be in the Concord Church Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the Concord United Methodist Church, c/o Susan Neal, 8491 Andersontown Road, Denton, MD 21629; or Caroline Nursing Home, Inc., 520 Kerr Ave., Denton, MD 21629
