Florence E. 'Betty' Everitt, 82

BARCLAY, Md. - Florence E. "Betty" Everitt, of Barclay, died at her home on Sunday April 6, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.

She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Kent County, daughter of the late Louis and Florence Atkinson of Church Hill, Md.

Mrs. Everitt received an associate of arts degree from Strayer College.

She worked at the B&O Railroad office during World War II, and the old ASC office located in Centreville.

On Dec. 30, 1955, she married Queen Anne's county farmer Franklin H. Everitt and raised two daughters on the farm she loved.

Mrs. Everitt was a member of the Centreville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 25 years and was a Past Worthy Matron.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Everitt was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; and siblings, Edward Atkinson and Dorothy Kane.

She is survived by a brother, Louis H. and his wife Mabel Atkinson of Dade City, Fla.; one sister, Patricia and her husband James Henley of Barclay; two daughters, Teresa and her husband David Collier of Barclay, and Dee Crouse and her fiance James Steeves also of Barclay; five grandchildren, Misdee and Thomas Stallings, Kristina Reeser, Sarah and John Milbourne, Justin and Tami Collier and Molly and Chris Mullan; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Jacob Stallings, Brianna and Hailey Walters, Autumn, Alexis and Abigail Collier and Aiden Mullan.

Services will be private.
