REHOBOTH - Flonnie R. Duffy was born Nov. 25, 1914, and departed this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. She was 96. Flonnie was preceded in death by her parents, John E. Duffy Sr. and Rebecca L. (Cannon) Duffy; eight siblings; and daughter in-law Joann Duffy (2010). Flonnie performed domestic duties for the late Dr. and Mrs. Carl Pierce, Mrs. Mary Henderson and Mrs. Mary Bevis. She enjoyed sitting on her porch and gardening. In earlier years, she also enjoyed sewing. She was known for a wonderful sense of humor and was often heard saying, "care nothing bout it." Flonnie's response to affection shown was "I love you too, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." Flonnie 's favorite song was "If I can help somebody." As a member of the "Golden Girls," Flonnie loved to travel with the late Helen Walker and Sarah Duffy. They were often seen together at community and family events. Flonnie was a member of Faith United Methodist Church (the former Mt. Pleasant). She was also a member of the senior choir And the Women's Society of Christian Service. She later became President of the United Methodist Women. Flonnie was Church School Superintendent, Communion Steward, pianist/organist and custodian. Flonnie leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Francis R. Duffy(Florida);, a special daughter, Jacalyn Duffy(Lewes);, eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, in-law, Irene Duffy; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 4, 2011 at 12 p.m. and viewing will be two hours prior to service at Faith United Methodist Church on 19940 Church St., Rehoboth Beach. Funeral is handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Millsboro.
