Evelyn S. Cole, 79 FELTON - Evelyn S. Cole, of Felton, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Milford Center. She was 79. She was born in Dover to Joshua B. and Grace B. Shahan. Mrs. Cole retired from Playtex of Dover. Her favorite activities included word search puzzles, reading, sewing and listening to country music. She also loved to can vegetables, eat her sweets, and spend time with her little dog Pooch. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sisters. Mrs. Cole was a member of Viola Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund L. Cole; brothers, Vernon Shahan, and George Shahan; and a sister, Margaret Gourley. She is survived by a son, Edmund Cole Jr. of Felton; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita and Donald Brown of Felton and Kathy and Larry Phinney of Dover; and sisters, Betty Blackburn of Felton, Charlotte Hurd of Milford, and Joyce Tribbett of Woodside; grandchildren, Sandra Dearman, Jennifer Mason, Paula Brown, and Eddie Smith; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Mason, Cassidy Mason, and Raynie Smith. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Milford Center South East Wing, c/o Jean Franks, 700 Marvel Road, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
