SEAFORD - Evelyn M. Wheatley, age 91, of Seaford, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 2010, at the Seaford Center. Evelyn was born in Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Oliver and Ruth Willey. A homemaker and devoted mother, she was quite the cook, especially preparing her famous chicken and dumplings and rice pudding. She was a member of Christian Life Church in Blades. Mrs. Wheatley is survived by her sons, Ronny Wheatley and wife Helen of Blades, Daniel Wheatley and wife Marsha of Seaford, and Wayne Wheatley and wife Brenda of Seaford; a sister, Dorothy Willey McCabe; a sister-in-law, Marie Willey of Laurel; 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Barry Wheatley, Robert Wheatley, and Gregory A. Wheatley; a daughter, Iris Mason; and a brother, William Willey. Her husband Ralph Wheatley passed in 1972. A Funeral Service was held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956, on Wednesday Sept. 22, 2010, at 2 p.m., where a viewing was also be held from 1 to 2 p.m. The Brother Jeff Bryant officiated.
