BETHANY BEACH - Eva Ward Ryan of Bethany Beach died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.
Mrs. Ryan was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Louisville, Ky., daughter of the late Charles D. and Sparta (Sebree) Ward.
She married Joseph S. Ryan in 1941 and they moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she was active in the Florence Crittenden Home and Bazaar as an officer and volunteer and with the Rock Creek Republican Women"s Club.
In 1974 Mrs. Ryan and her husband moved to Sussex County where she was also active in the Sussex County Republican Women"s Club, serving as past president supporting local and national candidates.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph S. Ryan; a daughter and a son-in-law, Deborah and Scott Cairns; a son and a daughter-in-law, John Ryan and Kathleen Vetter; and five grandchildren, Joshua Ryan and James Ryan, Sam Cairns, Elizabeth Cairns, and Allison Cairns.
Services will be 10 a.m. Nov. 24 in St. Martha"s Episcopal Church in Bethany Beach.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice/Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
