Eugenia 'Jean' Marie (Mokski) Norton, 72

REHOBOTH BEACH - Eugenia "Jean" Marie (Mokski) Norton passed away peacefully at her residence in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday, March 8, 2008, after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was 72.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on June 3, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Mokski.

She was raised in Lackawanna, N.Y., and in 1957 received a bachelor's degree in education from the Buffalo State College of the State University of New York.

She married Donald J. Norton on June 29, 1957.

The couple had seven children, Jack of Los Angeles, Susan of Ithaca, N.Y., Eric of Lanoka Harbor, N.J., Ann of Fenton, Mich., Catherine of Ithaca, N.Y., Lawrence of Arlington, Va., and Donald Jr., who died in a motorcycle accident in 1988.

Jean taught elementary grades in public schools in New York state, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

In recent years she served as a volunteer mentor in the after school instruction program conducted by West Rehoboth New Beginnings.

She is survived by her husband and their six children; her brothers, Donald of Carlsbad, Cailf., and John of Discovery, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Tess Norton of Santa Clarita, Calif., Ricardo Norton of Ithaca, N.Y., and Benjamin and Joseph Henley, both of Fenton, Mich.

A Catholic Blessing Service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorirum, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel avenues, Rehoboth Beach.

Please omit flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions to the West Side New Beginnings, Children's Educational and Recreational Program, 100 Norwood St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
