Eugene Watkins Johnson II, 74

DOVER - Eugene W. Johnson, II, of Dover, departed this life on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the age of 74. Eugene formerly of Emerson, N.J., moved to Dover in 2006 with his wife Mildred Johnson to enjoy their retirement years. Prior to retirement Eugene enjoyed over a 50 year long career as an optician and previously owned and operated his own business Johnson & Dilworth Optics in Hackensack, N.J. Eugene was a devoted husband to his wife Mildred having celebrated 54 years of marriage as of Aug. 26, 2009. He was also a loving and caring father of four children, grandfather of ten and great grandfather of three. He also leaves two daughters-in-law who loved him deeply. One of eight children, he also leaves behind three loving sisters. He further leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. They will all miss him greatly. Eugene was considered to be a leader amongst his family and friends. His life served as an example to those in business, and his devotion shown to his family was an inspiration to many. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Viewing will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 30, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m., Oct. 31, 2009, at Frontline Ministries 595 N.
