MILFORD - Eugene Moore, of Milford, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, in Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 79. He is the son of the late Cleaver Moore and Lillian T. Davis Moore. He is the last sibling of 16 brothers and sisters. He was employed by James Julian as a Superintendent for road and bridge construction and John Burger Co. of Dover. He served in the National Guard of Milford and the Milford Elks Lodge 2401. Mr. Moore enjoyed cooking, traveling, especially to the mountains, and watching horse racing. He was a history buff and enjoyed attending Civil War Re-enactments. He was very active in the 40's traveling on a Men's Baseball League the Delmarva Eastern Shore League, achieving the All Stars, as catcher. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Moore; and two children, Greg Moore and his wife Libby and a daughter, Diana Brown both of Milford and five grandchildren whom he was very proud of, Kirby and Kyle Brown, Hilary and Sage Moore and Amber Moore Lofland. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way, Milford.
