Ethel M. Hamsher

HARRINGTON - Ethel M. Hamsher, formerly of Alburtis, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Milford Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hamsher was born in Allentown, Pa., the daughter of the late Harold L. and Mary (Smoyer) Findlay. She was a personal secretary for Joseph T. Richardson for many years before retiring in 1999. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Choir, was a Choir mother; was a member of the United Methodist Women; and served on the church's worship committee. She also met with the Sunshine Girls for breakfast and would join them on field trips. Mrs. Hamsher loved Christmas and loved working in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Darcey Dean Hamsher in 1981. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Harrington and her husband Gary "Punky" of Harrington; two sons, Stephen Hamsher of Harrington and Eric Hamsher and Robin Haley, of Clayton; a brother, Larry Findlay and his wife Carol, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Gavin Harrington and his wife, Connie, Colby Harrington and his wife, Mary Beth and Troy Harrington and his wife, Dana; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford Harrington Highway, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington, DE 19952. Arr. by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.
