Esther Roberta Carpenter, 81
MILLINGTON, Md. - Esther Roberta Carpenter, of Millington, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Chester River Manor, Chestertown. She was 81.
Mrs. Carpenter was born June 11, 1926, in Chatham, Pa., the daughter of the late Townsend Cook and Blanche "Mullen" Cook.
Mrs. Carpenter spent most of her life as a homemaker taking care of her family.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as traveling.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Carpenter in 1986; three sons, Ralph Carpenter, Richard Carpenter and Reese Carpenter; one grandson, William McGuire; three brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three daughters, Roberta E. Pratt and husband Mickey of Clayton, Del., Ruth Ann Cahall and husband Roger of Townsend, Del., and Rose B. McGuire of Millington; two sons, Raymond "Mike" Carpenter and wife Norma Jean of Sudlersville, and Roy T. Carpenter and wife Vicki of Sudlersville; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Monday in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville.
