CHESTERTOWN - Esther Rebecca Lucht Cohey went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 5, 2014. Born November 1, 1930 to Ruth Starr Lucht and Rudolph Lucht of Pomona, she grew up on a farm surrounded by family. She graduated from Chestertown High School in 1947 and enjoyed participating in class reunions each year. She worked on Lawyers Row in Chestertown as a secretary. In 1950 she married Mervin R. Cohey and they raised two daughters together. They also enjoyed their two grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and "adopted" others who visited their home. She was a charter member of the Chestertown Church of the Nazarene, member of the Church Board, and actively involved in children's ministry and mission activities. For a number of years she was part of the Mid-Atlantic District Nazarene Missions International council. Always active and looking to the needs of others, she packed banana boxes for humanitarian aid to be sent overseas, cared for family members and brought joy to those around her. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Ross; and a brother, Rudolph Lucht, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 64 years; two daughters, Tina Hagelgans of Crumpton and Lori Cohey-Hassell of Brockton, Mass.; son-in-law, Robert Hassell; grandson, Adam Hagelgans of Tulsa, Okla..; granddaughter, Jessica Wolst of Dordrecht, Netherlands; a grandson-in-law, Randolf Wolst; and an unborn great-grandchild. She is also survived by 4 sisters, Della Willis, Dorothy Hickman, Florence Sutton and Mary Myers; and many nieces and nephews. Loved by many others as well, she will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 11 at 11 a.m. in the Chestertown Church of the Nazarene, 6943 Church Hill Rd. Chestertown, Md. 21620.
