Esther Phelps Dyer

Gleason, 60 DOVER- Esther Phelps Dyer Gleason passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday, April 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Esther was born Dec. 15, 1952, in Sayre, Pa.; to the late William and Sarah(Pumpelly) Dyer. She had been working as the office manager for Dr. Andrew Berman since 2008. Previously Esther and her Husband William had owned Greenbrier, Inc, a giftware import company, in Dover, from 1985-2007. Earlier in life she had worked as a stewardess for American Airlines. Despite her cancer, Esther was a very uplifting , positive, and social person. She loved to care for others. Esther enjoyed gardening, walking, and spending time outdoors; taking in the beauty of nature, flowers, and enjoying the songs of the birds. Esther is survived by her husband, William M. Gleason; two sisters, Nancy Pettitt, of Arlington, Texas; and Sally Gray, of Owego, N.Y; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Brittany Pettitt and Jonathan and Spencer Gray; a great-niece, Cassidee Pettitt; and her loving and faithful companion, Sarah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013; in the Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE. Funeral Services with Holy Communion will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in the Christ Episcopal Church, State & Water St. , Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation for Cancer Research, 5526 West 13400 South, # 510, Salt Lake City, UT 84096.
