Ervin S. Byler, 85

CLAYTON - Ervin S. Byler of Clayton passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 85. He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Somerset County, Pa., son of the late Simon and Sarah (Bender) Byler. Ervin was preceded in death by his children, Simon Byler, Ervin Byler Jr. and Lydia Byler. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Emma Byler; children, Roman Byler and his wife Susie of Wasilla, Ala.; John Byler and his wife Judy of Lancaster, Pa., Barbara Martin and her husband David of Lancaster, Rudy Byler and his wife Naomi of Colorado Springs, Colo., David Byler and his wife Kim of Clayton, Rachel Byler of Lancaster and Martha Bell and her husband Paul of Camden; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Simon (Bonnie) Byler of Nevada; 24 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Central Mennonite Church, 220 W. Denneys Road, Dover. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, corner of Del. 8 and Victory Chapel Road, Dover. Burial will follow at Central Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Central Mennonite Church, 220 W. Denneys Road, Dover, DE 19904. Letters of condolences may be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
