Ephriam H. Phillippi, 87

HARRINGTON - Ephriam H. Phillippi, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87. He was born in Mountain City, Tenn., the son of the late Joseph R. and Lettie Ann (Wilson) Phillippi. He worked at Dover Air Force Base, in the Civil Service for 22 years. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945, at the Pacific Campaign and Pearl Harbor, receiving the American Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the Phillipines Liberation Ribbon. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, avid gardener and loved animals, blue grass music, rabbit hunting and his neighbors, and his best friend and companion, his dog, Amy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Emma Belle Phillippi. He is survived by his children, Lettie Graves and her husband Robert, and Debbie Thompson and her husband Rich; four grandchildren, Wayne Andrew Stubbs, James Hunter Gillespie, Rebecca Leah McDonald, John Logan Mac Blain, and Brandon M. Thompson; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmer Ray Phillippi, and Richard Phillippi; and two sisters, Mabel Donophan, and Maxine Nichols. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
