DOVER - Emma Jo Crawford, with her family by her side, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2014. She was 92, born in Providence, Rhode Island on Sept. 4, 1921. She was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Sabo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ted, whom she met while he was in the Navy assigned to Quonset Point, Rhode Island. She and Ted had moved to Dover in 1967 as he had accepted the job of Business Manager of Delaware State College. In her early years in Dover, Emma Jo worked part-time at Braunsteins' in Dover, where she saved enough money to take her husband on their first cruise. Since that first cruise, Emma Jo and her husband took more than thirty cruises, having visited China, Tahiti, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Hawaii and Viet Nam. Through her years in Dover, Emma Jo was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Sprig n' Twig Club, the Roundtable Club, and also a member of Maple Dale Country Club. She golfed until her 80's, and was an avid bridge player and duplicate bridge player. In her very own words, she was "addicted" to her computer game of Free Cell - as she had solved all 30,000 games and was back to starting over again with the first game this year. She was preceded in death by her sister, Julia, and her brothers, Raymond, Clinton and Roy. She is survived by her two daughters, Christine, her husband, Robert Spinelli, and Allyson, her husband, Larry Heinold; and two grandchildren, Kimberly, and her husband, Kevin Staub, and Kevin Heinold and his wife, Tara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, 631 State Street, Dover, Delaware on Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 308, Wilmington, DE 19899 or Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
