Emma Hollinger
Farley, 95
MILFORD - Emma Hollinger Farley passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. Emma was born to the late Cecil and Emily (Hill) Hollinger on May 15, 1926.
She has been a resident of Milford for 76 years. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1945 and then completed her nursing training at Milford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She was a registered nurse and a member of the Delaware Nurses Association. She was also a member of Delaware Valley Central Supply Association for 26 years.
Emma worked at Kent General Hospital from 1957 until her retirement in 1996. From 1957 to 1973, she did private duty nursing. In 1973 she became the manager and supervisor of the Central Supply Department at Kent General and worked there until retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Long Neck UMC, and she also was a volunteer at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Richard "Squirt" F. Farley, who passed from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 1991. Together they formed the first and only Lower Delaware ALS Support Group, which met at Kent General Hospital for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband; Emma was preceded in death by her brother, John Cecil Hollinger, who passed in 2006.
She is survived by her son, Larry F. Farley and his wife, Nancy Harrington Farley; her grandson, Jason F. Farley and his wife, Sheila Stevens Farley; her great granddaughter, Erin Marie Farley; her nephew, JC Hollinger III and his wife, Patti, and their son Kane; her nephew, James Sisk; as well as her nieces, Lea Ann Hollinger and Tracy Farley.
Funeral services will be held of Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, Del. 19963. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Masks required. Interment will be held at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery.
