EARLEVILLE, Md. - Elwood James David Sr. of Earleville died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 77.
Mr. David was born March 22, 1930, in Delaware, son of the late William and Edna (Wright) David.
He attended Bancroft Junior High and then went to H. Fletcher Brown Vocational School.
Mr. David served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy.
After an honorable discharge, he went to work in the railroad industry for Conrail Railroad, where he worked for more than 30 years.
Mr. David was a member of the Middletown Moose Lodge and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4583 in Georgia.
He volunteered at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Georgia.
Mr. David enjoyed being with family, helping people, working on mowers and small gas engines, traveling and joking around with people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene David, in 1987; and his son, Elwood James David Jr., in 1994.
He is survived by his daughter, Edna E. Wallace of Earleville; two sisters, Ella Chapman of New Castle, Del., and Doris Paola of Elsmere, Del.; three brothers, William David Jr. of New Castle, Charles David of Cecilton, and Martin David of Wilmington, Del.; two granddaughters, Angela Patterson of Elkton, and Krystal Dillmore of Townsend, Del.; one great-grandson, Jacob Rose of Elkton; and a special companion, Ann Mullen of Odum, Ga., and her son, Stephen, of Cecilton.
A visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 226 E. Main St., Cecilton. Burial with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
