Elsie Marie Thomas, 101
FELTON - Elsie Marie Thomas passed away at Silver Lake Nursing Home, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at the age of 101. She was the daughter of the late, Charles and Ida Davis.
Mrs. Thomas was a wonderful home maker and career woman ahead of her time, working as an accounts payable clerk for many years. Her favorite hobbies included being an avid reader, and enjoying the music of the 1940s. Mrs. Thomas loved her home in Pennsylvania where she and her husband Glenn had retired. While in Pennsylvania, she was a member of the Eastern Star in Delta, Pa. After moving to Delaware, she became very active in the Harrington Senior Center, and enjoyed their activities. She was an excellent cook, and loved cooking for others.
Mrs. Thomas will be remembered as a very kind person, going out of her way to help others with her generous heart. Her wonderful sense of humor, that could keep you laughing for hours, will forever be cherished by all that knew her.
Mrs. Thomas was the oldest and last survivor of her siblings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Thomas; son, Frank Mathias; and daughter, Loretta Fryer; siblings, Ida Perkins, Charles Davis Jr., Joseph Davis and John Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Thomas and Carol (Dale) Gonzales; son, Joseph (Kathleen) Mathias; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Thomas will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 11 a.m., with a visitation for family and friends starting at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Md. immediately after the service. We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.
