CHESTER, Pa. - Elsie Lenora (Davis) Carroll, of Chester, died Oct. 3, 2009, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland. She was 76. She was born in Slaughter Neck, Del., and had been a resident of Chester for 56 years. She was a retired lead inspector and shop steward for Teledyne-Wirz Company, Chester. She was a member of St. Luke Community Christian Church, Chester, where she was a member of the Scholarship Committee, Graduate Committee, Finance Committee, Busy Bees, St. Luke Catering, and Youth Council Advisor. She was a graduate of William C. Jason High School in Georgetown, Del. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Davis and Margaret Ingram Davis; her husband, Clarence Emerson Carroll, Jan. 21, 1969; and siblings, Thomas Davis, Norman Davis, Mary Davis, and Gilbert Davis. She is survived by four daughters, Elsie C. Brooks (Maurice, Sr.) of New Castle, Del., Doreen Harvell, Regina Walker (Chris), all of Newark, Del., and Sabrina L. Carroll of Chester; two brothers, John Davis (Dorothy), and Circus Davis, all of Philadelphia; three sisters, Winifred Slayton (Lawrence), Mildred Rodriguez (Jose), and Lillian Davis, all of Slaughter Neck, Del.; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at St. Luke Community Christian Church, 4th Street and Central Ave., Chester, where a viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Haven Memorial Cemetery, Chester Township. Arrangements by Earl L. Foster Funeral Home, Chester.
