LINCOLN - Elsie J. 'Susie' Shirey, of Lincoln, died Thur., Dec. 2, 2010, at her daughters home in Ellendale. She is the daughter of the late Martha Benton Watkins. Mrs. Shirey was a friend to everyone and would help anyone in any way. She was a devoted mother and loved her children and grandchildren also she would take care of people in her home. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lenny Dalious; and Son In Law Ryan Nordberg. She is survived by her father, Harvey Watkins; daughters, Carol Nordberg, Mary Monahan, Shawna, Debbie Shirey and Penny Jester; 25 grandchildren; her companion, Charles Kenton; also five siblings, John, William and Donald Dalious, and BO and Franklin Watkins; also her estranged husband Gary Shirey. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sun., Dec. 5, 2010, in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. The family has requested contributions to defray the funeral cost.
