Elsie Howard, 84

GEORGETOWN - Elsie Howard, age 84, of Georgetown, formerly of Bethany Beach, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Whaleysville, Md., daughter of the late Joshua and Emma (West) Jones. She was a retired cashier and worked in the Meat Department at G&E Hockers on Cedar Neck Road, Ocean View. She was a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 12 of Frankford for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Howard in 1971. She is survived by her son, Rev. Jerald W. Howard and his wife Maxine; daughter, Virginia Lee Wingate and her husband Gerald; grandchildren, J.P. Howard and his wife Rae Lin, Jaime L. Howard, S. Joel Howard, Gerald E. Wingate Jr. and his wife Kimberly Ann, Tammy Lee Rust and her husband Mark; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Ainsley Howard, Jaclyn and Justin Rust, Kodi Wingate. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery, Ocean View. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Elsie's memory to Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE 19963.
