Elsie Bostic Higgs, 69

MILLINGTON, Md. - Elsie Bostic Higgs, of Millington, died on April 9, 2009, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 69. Mrs. Higgs was born on April 14, 1939, in Church Hill and raised in Price, daughter of the late William John and Susie Cahall Bostic. Elsie was a 1957 graduate of Sudlersville High School. She has been a resident of Millington for 45 years, where she raised her family and had a home daycare. For the last 20 years Elsie was a care giver to the elderly in the area. Mrs. Higgs was a member of the Millington VFW Post 652 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly and listening to music. Mrs. Higgs was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elwood G. Higgs Sr. in May 2008; and two sisters, Anna Mae Walbert and Madeline Downes. She is survived by her three children, E. Glenn Higgs Jr., and Sandra Squires and her husband Jeffrey, all of Millington, and Marty Bluth and her husband Scott of Clayton, Del.; three sisters, Pauline Cole of Denton, Betty Lou Davis of Warrington, Ga., and Phyllis Higgs of Ridgley; four grandchildren, Stephanie Tucker, Jan Squires, Savannah Goad, and Gunnar Goad; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Bailey and Mia Tucker. Funeral service will be noon Tuesday, April 14, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
