Eloy Cortez-Lugo, 62
SMYRNA - Eloy Cortez-Lugo, of Smyrna, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in his home. He was 62.
Mr. Cortez-Lugo was born Feb. 5, 1945, in Ciudad Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas, Mexico, son of Manuela Lugo Carranza of Roma, Texas, and the late Antonio Cortez.
He worked as a drywall finisher for Delaware Contractors for several years before retirement.
Mr. Cortez-Lugo enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Abdon Cortez.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Maria Bueno Cortez; two sons, Juan Cortez and Eduardo Cortez, both of Newark; two daughters, Elisa Granados of New Castle and Edith Mancilla of Smyrna; two brothers, Leonel Cortez and Romeo Cortez, both of Mexico; a sister, Herminia Lopez of Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Thursday in the Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Community Service Building, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
