Eloise F. Lunger, 85
DOVER - Eloise F. Lunger went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2022.
Born in Moosic, Pa., Eloise was the daughter of Dorothy (Blackwell) and George Frey. She is a graduate of Alexis I. duPont High School in Wilmington, Del. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., where she met her husband Paul. She earned her Master's in Reading from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Lunger was an elementary school teacher throughout her entire career. She loved teaching children, particularly first through third grade. She began her career teaching in Kentucky, where her husband was stationed. She taught in Newark, Del. at various schools, then taught at Elkton Christian Schools in Elkton, Md. She then taught at Upper Bucks Christian School in Sellersville, Pa.; Chapel Christian Academy in Limerick, Pa.; and Lan-Chester Christian Schools in Coatesville, Pa. Upon moving back to Delaware, Mrs. Lunger taught at Central Delaware Christian Academy before retiring. Eloise was known for her quiet, gentle spirit, for helping people in need and for her big smile. Like her husband, she devoted herself to Christian service in her teaching and personal life and was always willing to share the gospel with others. Eloise was an active member at numerous churches, most recently Faith Community Church in Camden, Del. She taught Sunday School and Awanas, worked in the nursery and helped at Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed watching local sports and was a Philadelphia sports fan. She loved sewing, cooking, crocheting and decorating. She had a green thumb and her house was surrounded by beautiful flowers. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Lunger loved her husband so much that she only survived one week without him. She is survived by three children, P. Brent Lunger and his wife Marta of Malvern, Pa., Anilisa G. Lunger-Otte and her husband Timothy of Laguna Hills, Calif., and Brenda A. Lunger and partner Julia Watts of Houston, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Mary Lunger of Hughesville, Pa. and Patricia Frey of Newark, Del.; and eight grandchildren.
A joint memorial service was held June 2, 2022 at Faith Community Church for Eloise and Paul.
