Ellen Davis Ashley, 88

ROCK HALL, Md. - Ellen Davis Ashley of Rock Hall died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Chester River Manor, Chestertown. She was 88.

She was born in Rock Hall on Aug. 23, 1919, daughter of the late Charles Henry and Mildred Thomas Fogwell Davis.

Mrs. Ashley graduated from high school in Baltimore and married the late Joseph Woodrow "Woody" Ashley in 1938. They lived in Rock Hall, where she worked for a brief time with Rock Hall Manufacturing as a seamstress.

For the majority of Mrs. Ashley"s life she raised her family.

She attended Rock Hall United Methodist Church and enjoyed Rock Hall Senior Citizens, sewing, crocheting and cooking.

Mrs. Ashley is survived by a daughter, Ann A. McGinnis Stevens and her husband Paul Leslie Stevens of Chestertown; a grandson, Joseph F. McGinnis of Miami; a great-granddaughter, Madison T. McGinnis of Miami; and her loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, Md. 20, Rock Hall, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the service.

A gathering will follow the services at Salem United Methodist Church, Fairlee.

Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall.
