Elizabeth Rose 'Betty' Graden, 86

TOWNSEND - Elizabeth Rose "Betty" Graden of Townsend passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 86.

Mrs. Graden was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late John and Mary DeCino.

She worked for the Christiana School District for 25 years before retiring in 1981.

Mrs. Graden was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard R. MacKnett, in 1969; a son, Richard "Dickie" MacKnett; a grandson, Howard R. MacKnett III; three brothers, John DeCino, Peter DeCino and Charles DeCino; and two sisters, Theresa Williams and Rose Brooks.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Elmer O. Graden Sr.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Howard R. "Bob"and Nancy Jane MacKnett of Townsend, Elmer O. Graden Jr. of Newark and Jack and Judy Graden of Newark; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Thelma E. and Bob Shockley of Elkton, Md., Joanne and Duke Thuet of Wilmington and Judy M. and George Thornton Jr. of Felton; five sisters, Josephine Mosiej, Grace Dabkowski, Louise Culley, Lucy Lewis and Vera Nepa; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, where friends may call from 9:15 a.m.

Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Flowers are welcome or the family suggests memorial contributions to Cranston Heights Fire Co, 3306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
