Elizabeth M. Whitlock, 80
EARLEVILLE, Md. - Elizabeth M. Whitlock of Earleville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in her home. She was 80.
Mrs. Whitlock was born on January 28, 1927, in Claymont, daughter of the late John and Anna Biddle.
She was a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Whitlock was a substitute teacher for many years before becoming a certified nursing assistant at the age of 60.
She enjoyed gardening and shopping but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitlock was a member of St. Paul"s United Methodist Church, where she held numerous positions including treasurer, Sunday school superintendent, WSCS and cemetery warden.
She was the founder of the cemetery perpetual care fund.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Biddle, Willard Biddle, John Biddle and Herman Biddle.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph S. Whitlock Sr.; four children, Joseph S. Whitlock Jr. of Marydel, Anna L. Walls and husband, Joe of Cecilton, Phillip K. Whitlock and wife, Robin of Marydel and Elizabeth Lynn Singleton of Earleville; a brother, Thomas Biddle of Smyrna; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her loving and devoted caregiver, Shelby Cahall.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the Seasons Hospice workers who cared for her.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be in Johntown Cemetery, Earleville.
Memorials may be offered to Seasons Hospice or St. Paul"s Cemetery Fund, c/o the funeral home.
