FREDERICA - Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Morris, 83, of Frederica, went home to be with Jesus October 31, 2014 after a short illness. She was born on July 3, 1931 in Philadelphia to Adele and George Dukes. She was a Christian who loved God and made it her personal mission to proclaim God's love for all people. She was a member of Faith Community Church in Camden. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Morris, Jr. Over her twenty years as an Army wife, she traveled between Germany and northern Virginia. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years. She worked at the register of deeds for Kent County in the 70's and worked as a secretary at First Southern Baptist Church in Dover. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover where she found a great deal of fellowship and enjoyed water walking. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Ronnie, and Benjamin Dukes. She is survived by her brother, Gary Long of Dyersburg, Tenn.; her children, Adele Morris-Jenkins of Wilmington, Barry John Morris of Asheboro, N.C., Gregory Wayne Morris of Harrington, and Susan Ann Brickey of Detroit, Michigan; her grandchildren, Wayne Morris, Krystal Marie Lemmons, Matthew Morris, Sarah Morris, John, Christopher, and Jennifer Corbin; and her great grandchildren, Sean, Ariel, and Cadence Lemmons, Malachi, Eden Rose, and Judah Morris, Alex and Lillie Corbin. She loved to read, crochet, do crossword puzzles, and watch the inspirational channel. As a child, she spent summers at Kitts Hummock on the Delaware Bay. She loved her family. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro. Contributions may be made to Faith Community Church, 2240 S. DuPont Hwy., Camden, DE 19934 or Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.
