GEORGETOWN - Elizabeth Ellen Parker, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in Harrison Senior Living, Georgetown. She was 93.
Elizabeth was born in Whaleyville, Md., daughter to the late Parker Tull and Lula (Collins) Hickman.
She was a nurse for the Indian River School District for 20 years and retired in 1975.
Mrs. Parker had been an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
She served as Sunday school teacher and administrator at the church for many years.
Mrs. Parker enjoyed going to the beach, reading, gardening, cooking and cleaning and especially the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Beebe Nursing Retirees Association.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Parker in 1997; a daughter, Mary Lou Shockley; a brother, Frank Hickman; and a sister, Laura Belle Mariner.
She is survived by one son, John W. Parker II and wife Karen of Georgetown; one daughter, E. Joan Harrison of Salisbury, Md.; son-in-law, John Costen Shockley of Georgetown; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 209, Georgetown, DE 19947; or Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
