Elizabeth A. Barrett, 94

Elizabeth was born April 4, 1929 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Ruth (Rode) Albers and Walter S. Albers Sr.
She graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1947. She then attended Beacom College and upon graduation worked for the college until she married.
In 1952, Elizabeth married her husband Harry and they eventually settled in Dover where they raised their family. Elizabeth enjoyed people, gardening, bird watching, beach time, shopping, attending the ballet, and, most of all, being with family. She was immensely caring and thoughtful to all she met and her most cherished roles revolved around being a mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by many family and friends.
She also believed in serving others via a variety of volunteer positions. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dover for most of her adult life where she taught Sunday school/Bible school, was church treasurer for many years, and was the first female elder on the church council there. She served on the Board of Directors for St. John's Lutheran School, Luther Senior Services of Dover and Luther Towers of Dover. During her almost 25 years on the Board of Directors of Luther Towers she helped in the creation of several affordable senior housing buildings in Dover.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry N. Barrett Jr.; and her beloved granddaughter, Jamie L. Barrett.
Elizabeth is survived by a son, Gordon Barrett and his companion Kim Bomberger of Wyoming; a daughter, Grace Cilento and her husband Mark of Middletown; a brother, Walter Albers of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Kristian Cilento of Malvern, PA and Kimberly Cilento of Bethesda, MD; and two great grandsons, Quentin Roach and Colin Roach both of Wyoming.
