Elinor L. "Peggy" Smith, 79
MILTON - Elinor L. "Peggy" Smith of Milton, formerly of Luray, Va., passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, in her home. She was 79.
Peggy was born in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Russell J. and Fern Anita Polend Heffron.
She was a clerk with Weight Watchers for several years, retiring in 1985.
Peggy enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clarkson "Bud" Smith; two daughters, Peggy Ann Rose of Laurel, Md. and Donna Marie Smith of Milton; one son, Thomas Clarkson Smith of Church Hill, Md.; five grandchildren, Johnny Moore of Laurel, Md., Dawn Collins of Beltsville, Md., Shawn Moore of Laurel, Md., Tamara Harless of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., and Brittany Smith of Bowie, Md.; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irwina "Jackie" DeMarco, Tucson, Ariz. and Judith L. "Judy" Armstrong of Bristol, Tenn. and a beloved niece, Irene "Bonnie" Armstrong, Lake of the Woods, Va.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
