LINCOLN - We lost our beloved Elinor on September 11, 2014. She was born in Jersey City, N.J., on September 16, 1928. When she was 13, she moved to Ridgley, Md. She graduated from Ridgley, HS in 1947. Elinor was the class Valedictorian. After graduation, she married Albert Saulsbury Jr. and in time became the mother of two sons, Albert Saulsbury III and Wayne Saulsbury. In 1971, she was remarried to William Couch and left Delaware for Florida and subsequently to Alabama and California. Elinor was an active member of the Salinas Ramblers Motorcycle Club in Salinas, Calif. She traveled all over California, and along with her husband, participated in many of the activities her club entered into. She crossed the USA four times and across Canada once on a motorcycle. She was an enthusiastic traveler, having visited Canada, Alaska, and Great Britain and Germany twice, traveling many miles by automobile. She was never happier than when she could talk about her adventures and travels. Elinor retired in 1990 as a nurse and moved back to Delaware from California along with her husband and settled in Lincoln. Since returning to Delaware, she became a member of the Red Hats, AARP and the recreational vehicle club, the Shanty Shakers. Elinor was a member of the Mormon Church. She is survived by her husband and her two sons, her granddaughter, Jennifer Hernan; her grandsons, Albert Saulsbury IV and Justin Saulsbury; her three great grandsons, Thomas Hernan Jr., Nate and Cooper Saulsbury; and her great granddaughter, Katie Hernan. A memorial service was held at the VA cemetery near Georgetown. lt was Elinor's wish that her remains be cremated and that there would be no funeral service. lnstead of flowers, it was her desire that any contributions be made to the National Stroke Association and Alzheimer's Association.
