CLAYTON - Elinor B. Daniels of Clayton, passed away on Saturday, Jan.18, 2014 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. She was 70. Mrs. Daniels was born March 21, 1943 in Camden, N.J., the daughter of the late Hugh Rankin Boyd of Glasgow Scotland and Pearl Hurd Cahall, who resides in Bonita Springs, Fla. She graduated from Dover High School then worked for Benjamin Burton for several years. She worked alongside her husband in the Standard bred horse racing industry for 26 years. She also worked as the Office Manager for Schreppler Chiropractic Office for 34 years. Elinor loved spending her free time in the summer place in Chincoteague Island, Va. In addition to her biological father, she was preceded in death by her step father, Charles A. Cahall; her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Mattie Hurd; step-son, Mark Joseph Daniels; mother and father-in-law, Lee and Hilda Daniels; sister and brother-law, Hilda and William Cox; and brother-in-law, Ernest Butler. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lee C. Daniels; daughter, Cheryl Daniels of New York, formerly of Clayton; granddaughter, Tricia Fonner League of Clayton; great grandsons, Colton Charles Arthur Bowie and Cullen Mark Russell League of Clayton; step-daughters, Terry Montgomery and her husband Roger of Milford, and their children, Shawnetta and Dale Brenneman of W.Va., and their sons, Adam and John, and Kipsyll and Skip Shurman and their daughter Marissa; step-sons, Kenneth Daniels and his wife Patricia, along with their children, Leigh Catherine and Scott Crooks, and Kevin and Natasha Fitzpatrick and their daughter Viola; grandson, Christopher Kelly (son of the late Mark Daniels) and his wife Julie, along with their children; sisters, Jean Cahall of Fort Myers, Fla., Nancy Cahall of Tampa, Fla., Carol Otter and her husband Jimmy of Bonita Springs, Fla., Shirley Hammond Stapley of Felton, along with her children: Melissa and Kiren Gifford, and their children, and Matthew and Missy Hammond and their children; sister-in-law, Nellie Hand and her husband Willis of Dover, and their family; sister-in-law, Helen Butler of Townsend, and their family; and brother-in-law, Ralph Daniels and his wife Shirley of Smyrna, and their family. She is also survived by the children of Hilda and William Cox; a special cousin, Richard (Joby) Hurd; special caregivers, Jane and Bill Carter and Wilma Graham; along with many patients and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Kent General Hospital for the wonderful care they gave, as well as the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 pm, and again on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Townsend Cemetery in Townsend.
