David Mayhan
Elder Anthony David Mayhan was born October 20, 1952, in Grant, W.Va. He received his wings on October 13, 2021.
Anthony D. Mayhan was a loving father and grandfather. He was determined to live his life through Christ. He was faithful and always worked on improving his relationship with God. His favorites songs were known to be 'Your Grace and Mercy' and 'I'm a Soldier in the Army of the Lord'. Anthony always had a smile to greet you, a chuckle to make you laugh and a spirit of togetherness.
His home church was Canaan Land Church in Gretna, Va. Anthony moved to Delaware for a fresh start 21 years ago. He was a member of Whole Truth Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Robert Williams in Viola, Del. It was under the guidance of Elder Williams where he received training as a Minister. He also attended and graduated from Bishop Boyd's School of Knowledge in Dover, Del.
His final assignment from God was to move his membership to Center of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Gentry Butler Sr. Elder Mayhan served as the Sunday School Superintendent and never missed a Sunday.
He was married on June 30, 1983 to Senora Hairston. They had one child in 1988; Renita Mayhan and three grandchildren followed – Anthoney, Deshiya and Narlea Paige.
Anthony was the eighth of eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edmonia Mayhan; a sister, Marie Simmons; five brothers, Willie, James, John, Emanual, and John L. He is survived by a sister, Nancy Mayhan Fenton of LaJolla, Calif. He leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews along with a family of friends. He is also survived by his faithful friend of 20 years, Sarah L. Butler.
A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Center of Faith Church of God in Christ, 120 S. Governors Avenue, Dover, DE 19901 where there will be a viewing from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Committal service will be 11 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2021 at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Sharon Hill Road, Dover.
