Elaine Marie (Clark) Minakowski, 58

LEWES - Elaine Marie (Clark) Minakowski of Lewes passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was 58.

Mrs. Minakowski was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Daniel Ettinger Sr. and Lillian Rosa (Donovan) Clark.

She had many talents which she put to good use.

Through the years, Mrs. Minakowski worked as a cosmetologist, owning and operating the Laynee & Co. Hair Salon in New Castle.

She also worked as the head cook at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School in New Castle, was a certified tutor for the New Castle County school district specializing in reading and was a collector for the Bank of New York.

In 2004, Mrs. Minakowski survived a lung transplant.

When she was not working, she loved having her grandchildren around her.

She enjoyed boating, fishing, scrapbooking and decorating her home for all to see.

Mrs. Minakowski loved to be surrounded by her family and many friends and she especially enjoyed taking golf cart rides around the park where she made her home with her husband Jerry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Clark.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerry V. Minakowski; her son, Jerry V. Minakowski II and his wife, Heather, of Dover; her daughter, Danielle R. Sheets and her husband, S. Lee, of New Castle; four grandchildren, Savannah, Matthew, Kenneth and Jacob; and two brothers, Richard Clark and his wife, Beverly, of New Castle and Danny E. Clark Jr. of Harrington.

All services will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Penn Medical Development, Attn. Roger Reina, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Checks should be made payable to Trustees of Univ. of Penn. with a notation that the contribution is in memory of Elaine Minakowski.
