Edward Wright Walraven, 76

MILLINGTON, MD - Edward Wright Walraven, died on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Chester River Manor, Chestertown, Md. He was 76. He was born in Barclay, Md. on June 3, 1932, the son of the late Edward Davis and Nataline Wright Walraven. He graduated Millington High School class of 1949. He married Betty Cohey on May 19, 1956. Mr. Walraven worked as an assemblyman with General Motors Corporation from 1951 until 1992. He was a member of Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post 36 in Chestertown, Md., Asbury Methodist Church in Millington, Md., and the Newcastle Moose Lodge. He loved horses and enjoyed collecting carousels. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by a brother, Robert Walraven of Betterton, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, Millington, Md. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Millington, Md.
