Edward Lee Smith, 75

Edward Lee Smith of Ocean View passed away Monday, March 12, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 13, 1931, in Stamping Ground, Ky. He retired from the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Md.

After moving to Ocean View, he worked as a groundsmen at the Salt Pond Golf Course in Ocean View. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and being with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. Smith in 1998.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph E. Smith and his wife Kathy of Spotsylvania, Va., Douglas L. Smith and his wife Denise of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughter, Dawn M. Rexrode and her husband Brian of Ocean View; and seven grandchildren, Madelyn, Travis, Lindsey, Nicholas, Martina, Mandy, and Connor.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue in Ocean View, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to, Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Suite 107, Georgetown, DE. 19947, or Delaware S.P.C.A., Sussex Chapter, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE. 19947.
